No Passport Requirement for The US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico

It has been brought to our attention by a property owner in the Virgin Islands that some US citizens are not aware that the new passport requirement which requires all US travellers returning or entering the US from the Caribbean to have a passport, DOES NOT APPLY TO THE US VIRGIN ISLANDS OF ST. THOMAS, ST. JOHN AND ST. CROIX, nor does it apply the the US island of PUERTO RICO.
In an article by Teresa Plowright on About.com, she states "The US Virgin Islands, on the other hand, offer a Caribbean experience that's still part of the US: no passport needed. Each Virgin Island -- St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix-- is distinctive, and offers great lodgings and activities for families. " Click here to read the whole article
